Believe or not, there are just over 2 weeks left of the semester! Although the end of semester is in sight, I am left with mixed emotions. To say the semester has been exactly what I expected would probably be an understatement. Therefore in this blog I have endeavoured to leave you with some essential survival tips to be better equipped for your studies.

Tip #1 : Give yourself enough time to study

Don’t leave your study till the last minute! Find a balance which fits your lifestyle and personality. Also find out when your exams are and plan a study schedule accordingly. Doing little ‘chunks’ each day will be beneficial compared to last minute cramming.

Tip #2 : Organise your study space

Make sure you have enough space to spread out your textbooks and notes. Do you have enough light? Are there any distractions near by? Whatever your environment, that main objective is that you are comfortable and can be able to focus on your study.

Tip #3 : Use flow charts and diagrams

Visual aids can be very useful. Instead of a whole heap of notes , your brain is more likely to memorize or recall information in a diagram or flowchart.

Tip #4 : Practise old Exams

One of the most effective ways of preparing for exams, is practising old versions. This helps you get used to the format of the questions. Also if you time yourself, it could be a good indication on how much time should be spent on particular questions

Tip #5 : Explain your answers to others

Family members don’t have to be annoying around exam time, use them to explain relevant concepts and ideas you’re studying. If you are able to explain to them the concept, it will be clear in your head, and will highlight certain parts where you might need to revise more.
