It’s the final week before mid semester break and it seems all the course co-ordinators sure want us to know about it! Three tests over two days this week. This is only a taster though, I’m seeing multiple tests and essays due all within a few days not too long after mid semester.

Right now is about the time that if you’re looking into university you’ll be starting to go through application processes– or you’ll already have if you’re onto it! So quick reminder: Courses and Careers Day is this Saturday 27th August. Come to The Inside Word bloggers chat at 10.20am in OGGB and see all our beautiful faces and ask us (easy but thoughtful) questions so we can please the masses.

Cheeky promo on the bus the other day

Cheeky promo on the bus the other day, bit blurry cause: bus.

So rather than actually study right now and think about upcoming tests… I thought it would be the perfect time to reminisce and have a throwback to Re-O Week considering I didn’t get a chance to blog then.

Hit it off with a Broods concert on one of the first days I flew back from Welly. One of the best things about Auckland is that ALL the concerts are here so if you’re a big fan of live performances it’s the way to goooooo.

We were pretty damn close too!

Thomston opened and he's one of the faves– check him out and thank me later..

Then to round off Re-O Week, (since we’re talking about concerts) I hit FLUME as well and it was just insane really, lights, sounds, crowd. I know that sounds like any concert but if you think about it on a Flume level, ya know?

I'll just show ya then.

One of the highlights of the week (apart from introduction lectures) was UH Challenge Night. It was kinda like a scavenger hunt but with challenges… I’m sure I could describe it better but mind blank. Each thing you did gave you a certain number of points and you’d record it or take a photo and keep an instagram account updated with it. Getting a bit technical here but the point is– it was fuuuuuun.

Apart from the challenges themselves, the only other hard thing was the fact that it went from 7pm until 7am. That’s 1900 to 0700. Overnight. Ew. So for those who are in bed by 9pm which is usually about the time I start studying for the night, staying up for the period would have been a challenge in itself. Our night ended at around 3am with “oh yeah we’ll just take a nap and wake up in a few hours to complete some more challenges and upload everything.” And yep you guessed it, we all just kept sleeping. The end.

"Get into the white lady" At first we thought this was a strip club or something. Turns out it wasn't as hard to get into as we thought!

When you low key join forces with another group for a short while. This was "Go to timezone and challenge a stranger to a dance battle" or something like that.

First pic was towards the end of the night… you can probably guess. “Cover a teammate in shaving foam” When you’re past the point of tiredness and into the hysterical stage… am i rite eh.

Yes, that is a condom. They stretch… a lot. Surprise! Be safe, kids.

But ya know, if we hadn’t slept we probably would’ve won… @thewinners

Civic Theatre– it's cool.

I love film as you’ve probably picked up from my major so I’m always excited when the New Zealand International Film Festival rolls around. Getting to experience it in Auckland this year was a nice little change– too bad I’m living the #studentlife and could only afford two tickets. I went to two French films, a thriller and a coming of age film, both were beautiful  in their own way of course, hard to compare the two!

You’ll learn to trust Shads to provide.

Shadows is the student bar on campus I think I might have mentioned it before but I feel like you still need to get around to the idea! Sometime during Re-O Week there was a beer pong tournament. I’ve never played beer pong prior to this, apart from practicing with water the night before which is what you do first week of semester… and yes, we did lose first round @nickstewart but it was alright cause it was hilarious and at least I can now say I’ve played beer pong.

That’s the end of adventures with a no-work-yet-bryan but now it’s back to full-steam-ahead-bryan and test prep so see you all at Courses and Careers Day 27th August from 9am. Calendar that.
