Dear Reader

Well hey, we made it! I’m going to make this short and sweet, because like this year, it’s been far too short and although sour at times it’s mainly been a pretty sweet time.

Another year gone, another year the earth has circled the sun. This year has been amazing year, full of tears, uncertainty, excitement and trying to find Governer Grey (the resident university cat). Although this year didn’t go as planned, I’m still hopeful and staying positive for the future. Because even though the future may not be known, we can display reliance and choose how we go into the future.

If it’s going to be your first year of university next year, I’ll be honest in saying that you will probably face troubles. The first semester, will probably be one of the most difficult periods of your uni year.  I’ve seen heaps of people leave in pursuit of other things, which is completely fine, but also have seen people transform and change. Personally, I wasn’t prepared for what was coming. But the second semester was so much better than the first, and I attribute that to two things; experience and stress. If there was two things I would advise is:

  • Uni does get easier. The content might not, but the way in which you deal with the content becomes easier as you get more experienced. Semester one will feel like hell. Semester two will feel much better.
  • Do not become stressed. This is honestly the worst thing that can impede your studies. Stress not only makes you mentally tired, but also physically tired as well. Dwell on it for 10 minutes then move on. Please, please don’t get stressed because really there is no point. Sure it might act as bit of motivation, but in the long run it’s not good for you.

Going to the Domain Is a great way to chill!

University is about learning knowledge, but it’s also an experience. It’s about learning to be fully accountable for your actions and trying as hard as you want to. Figuring out what you love and what you don’t. I’m really looking forward to next year (hopefully, some of you will catch me as a uniguide) and hope to continue with my studies of Health Science (and maybe start law).

All in all, I’ve had a great year. I’ve enjoyed Unihall and am really excited to be staying at uni accomodation again next year. I’ve met heaps of great people, have had a lot of hot chocolate and eaten more salad than I have ever in my life.

Goodbye Unihall!!!

This is going to be my last blog post for the Inside Word, and it has been a pleasure and an honour to be able to write some stuff about what university life is like and the thoughts and situations we face. For all those who go on to write for the Inside Word, I wish you the best of luck.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my blogs, I know I have really enjoyed writing them. No matter what you pursue, I hope you leave with no regrets.

Best Wishes

– Lily
